Growing up studying ballet and horseback riding, Shalene learned from a young age the importance of correct postural alignment, proper body mechanics and training muscles to find optimal movement patterns.
Shalene’s love for teaching began in 2003 with teaching fitness classes like spin, step, kickboxing, strength and bootcamp. Through the AFLCA group fitness certification, Shalene also certified as a Post Natal Specialist, and taught moms how to connect with their pelvic floors, get back into shape and feel good about themselves.
Shalene graduated from The Body Works Pilates Studio’s comprehensive Pilates teacher training program in 2010. After she graduated, she stayed on at the studio on as a Pilates teacher working with clients with all levels of ability in a rehabilitative studio setting.
Continuing her Pilates journey, Shalene certified as a Fletcher Pilates® Intensive Licensed Provider in Fletcher Percussive BreathTM, Fletcher FundamentalsTM, Fletcher Towelwork®, Fletcher Floorwork® and Fletcher BarreworkTM in 2011.
Shalene graduated from the Sattva Yoga Teacher training program in 2012. Shalene incorporates Sattva Yoga philosophy into her teaching. This philosophy is rooted in teaching people how to realize their full potential by connecting mind and body using the breath.
Most recently, Shalene has finished courses in TRX - Qualified Suspension Training Teacher and Trigger Point - GRID Foam Rolling. Shalene continues to study: Myofascial release techniques, Yamuna Body Rolling, Osteopathy techniques, Pelvic floor conditioning techniques, and the Eric Franklin Method.
Shalene teaches a mindful movement Pilates practice that helps to re-pattern the body to it’s optimal function and allow the body and mind to move with ease.
