When you are recovering from an injury, sport specific demands are critical to rehabilitation.
Whether you are a high school or university athlete, a weekend warrior getting in a few hours of play, or an older adult aiming for 9 holes of golf, our physiotherapists are trained to evaluate and fix your injury efficiently.
Physiotherapists are active people, too. When injuries happen and you are not on your game we know your goal is to get back out there – fast. Let us help.
How did the injury happen? Was it when you were speeding up or slowing down? Did your opponent collide with your knee? Did it give way without warning? Did you hear any sounds coming from your body (aside from a scream or moan!)?
Talking with your physiotherapist is the most important piece to the puzzle.
A detailed history taking is needed in order to fully understand the forces your body went through to get here.
So are the stresses your body goes through to play that sport and at the level you need to play at. Your physiotherapist goes through an entire body biomechanical exam including nerve and muscle function tests to get to the bottom of the problem.
We have a saying: “a sprained ankle is never just a sprained ankle”. This is particularly true if you keep spraining your ankle repeatedly. The whole body needs to be taken into consideration so that it can function at its prime.
Physiotherapists know a lot about sports and activities. And, if something new comes up that we haven’t heard about, you can bet we are going to learn! You might even catch us out there trying it out – all in the name of getting to know the demands of the sport better to help our patients (and sure, have a bit of fun too!).
When you are recovering from an injury, sport specific demands are critical to rehabilitation. Our physiotherapists will give you customized training movements and exercises to be just like new and even better than the injury.
We get you on the road to recovery and keep you there with our pro health tips.
