Description

Pediatric Physiotherapy Requires a Combination of Knowledge & Skills.

Have you noticed if your newborn baby has developed a flat side to their head?  Does he or she favour turning their head to one side?  Is there a tilt to their head and neck position?  Although a cause for concern, these are treatable conditions and are some of the most common conditions we treat:

  • infant head shape problems such as plagiocephaly (where there is a flat area on the head)
  • tight neck muscles known as torticollis

Our pediatric physiotherapists are specifically trained and have years of experience to identify and treat a wide variety of pediatric conditions.

How Pediatric Physiotherapy Helps Plagiocephaly

Early intervention of physiotherapy is critical and can correct the shape of the baby’s head and restore the movement of their neck back to normal. Our pediatric physiotherapists provide:

  • Gentle hands-on treatment to your baby’s neck muscles
  • Easy to follow instructions for parents to continue proper positioning and stretching at home
  • Communication with other specialists if more involved correction of the head shape is required, such as the use of corrective helmets.

If your baby or toddler has been diagnosed with a specific condition, or you are concerned about their developmental patterns, a pediatric physiotherapist is a very important person on your child’s team.
