Description

Physio Pilates is a goal directed rehabilitation program designed and carried out by a physiotherapist. The individual client is assessed, and key issues and dysfunctional patterns are identified. Exercises can be carefully applied to clients with their specific injuries in mind.

With Physio Pilates, you have a physiotherapist who is trained in evaluating and treating injuries as well as using state of the art equipment such as the Reformer to provide you with a progressive, safe, yet challenging and functional exercise program.

Physio Pilates Focus

Physio Pilates offers an excellent framework for rehabilitation from injury and moves you forward, getting you the most prepared to get you back out there and live life the way you want.  During a Physio Pilates session, we focus on:

  • Posture
  • Core Stability

  • Breath

Description

This type of rehab program utilizes the advanced knowledge of a physiotherapist (PT) and a physiotherapy assistant (PTA).  The physiotherapist assesses the client and creates the physiotherapy program using Pilates equipment and principles.  The physiotherapy assistant (PTA) then carries out the treatment plan for a set amount of time, while communicating with the physiotherapist (PT) on how the client is performing.  The PT progresses the treatment plan while the PTA provides the services. With PTA Pilates, you can claim these sessions as Physiotherapy under your extended health care benefits.  This programming offers greater flexibility in class times, reduced cost of sessions, while still having the PT oversee your treatment plan.

PTA Pilates Focus & Goals

Working with a PTA for your rehab using Pilates has the same focus and goals of rehabilitation from an injury as when you work with a Physiotherapist.  You will spend time with our PTA during the sessions, once the treatment plan has been set by the PT.  Working towards pain-free movement and building core strength, balance, and posture are all cornerstones of PTA Pilates.  The difference is you will have access to both your PT and PTA throughout the rehabilitation process.

PTA Pilates Benefits

  • Covered under most extended health care benefits as Physiotherapy but at a reduced cost
  • Access to your PT and PTA
  • Using Pilates equipment such as the Reformer and stability chair to enhance your recovery
  • Suitable for pre and post natal clients, after car accident (MVA) injuries, athletes of all levels, after surgery such as joint replacements or fractures, those managing arthritis and other joint pain.
